Mel Wages is a vital aspect of our fantastic Human Resources department. He joined our family following his retirement from the Atlanta police force and has been a positive influence in our office since. You can usually find him at local recruiting events, dancing and having fun, teaching potential employees about our great company while making a lasting impression. Mel has a way of bringing a smile to everyone's face and is always joyful. Meet Mel! 


How did you learn about Lanier?

I learned about Lanier Parking after retiring from being a State Policeman for several years and working as an Employment Consultant for 25+ years at the Georgia Department of Labor. A former and current employee with Lanier, Derek Kline and Sam Coppage, informed me of an open Parking Backstage Security Checkpoint position available at Verizon Amphitheatre where I started my career with Lanier Parking Solutions five years ago.

What are three words to describe Lanier?

Exciting team, above and beyond customer service, and career growth potential.

What is your proudest moment at Lanier?

After recruiting at 52 job fairs and career expos in 2017, I received a personal thank you letter from former CEO James Hyman for a job well done, going above and beyond expectations.

Where is your favorite place to be?

Florida Keys

Where is the best place you’ve traveled and why?

Italy. I drove all over the country with an International Driver’s License. I saw the Rome Coliseum, Tuscany Valley, Naples, Pompeii, and the Vatican tour including the Sistine Chapel.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

Winston Man working at NASCAR races in the South East US. Fans paid to have their picture made with me on the infield before races.

Any favorite line from a movie?

“Get to the Chopper.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger, Predator

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

Tennis is my favorite outdoor activity. Spending time with family and friends is my favorite indoor activity.

What was the best concert you ever attended?

My first concert, Fleetwood Mac at the Omni in Atlanta.

What is your secret talent that no one knows about?

I can hold my breath for 3 minutes under water.
